Success is hard to achieve. But it gets harder when we possess beliefs that make us feel worthless.

If you are thinking about what is stopping you from achieving success in life, then let me tell you, your thoughts are. Every new year we make resolutions to achieve, every day we make goals, but none of them really manifests into reality. The reason is again your beliefs.

There are many examples of many extraordinary people who attained success in life just because they believed in themselves.

Well, beliefs are just thoughts about something you firmly believe is true. Mahatma Gandhi once said:

“Your beliefs become your thoughts, Your thoughts become your words, Your words become your actions, Your actions become your habits, Your habits become your values, Your values become your destiny.”

Every action of yours depends on your thoughts and beliefs. However, not every belief limits us. There are only a few beliefs of ours that limit our potential. 

Those self-limiting beliefs germinate from childhood. For instance, you want to share your strategy with your boss. At the same time, you think about what bad might can get happen. Like what if he’ll laugh at me or will he really care about my plans? This is an example of a self-limiting belief.

Well, you can easily find out self-limiting beliefs because they have some characteristics.

Limiting beliefs are not true, but the believer holds them to be true. They are easily changeable. Limiting beliefs influences behavior and may impede or damage the believer’s ability to achieve their desired goals in life.

In this article, I have shared the three most common beliefs which affect our success in life which obstructs our growth.

So let’s get started.

1. I Have Failed So I Am Not Good Enough

The worst belief which most of us possess in our minds is that we are worthless. I have failed once and I might get failed again. This belief is the worst of all because most of the time we fear taking action.

Unless you try, how can you ever find your worth? How can you ever know your potential if you’ll fear trying? Well, most often, these types of beliefs develop in childhood. When children fail and recognize other people laughing at them, they get afraid. Their minds treat it as a danger that should be escaped for survival.

So how one can change this belief?

Just start by making small goals that are easily achievable. By doing this, you will build confidence. Also, tell yourself that failure is the best teacher and you can’t learn from success. Like Thomas

Edison once said, “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.”

2. I Have To Keep Them Happy

No, you don’t.

You should not try to make everyone happy. Don’t be a people pleaser just to fit in. This is the worst mistake which you can ever make.

3. I Have To Be Perfect

The notion of being perfect at everything is senseless. Think about this, how can you be perfect at something forever? Because one day someone more perfect and hardworking will cross paths with you.

People often support this belief of perfection, which makes them defeated. They envy others and become unconfident. The harder they try to excel, the stronger they fall.

Remember that there is nothing as perfect in the world. Become the best version of yourself own self and you’ll achieve happiness and success. Your beliefs make you and break you, you are what your thoughts are. So don’t practice such beliefs if you want to achieve your goals, dreams and success in life.

Final Thoughts

It’s not your big dreams but limiting beliefs that hold you back. A thought which you repeated so many times that your mind perceived it as truth is what a self-limiting belief is.

These three beliefs (I am not good enough, I have to keep them happy and I have to be perfect), which I have shared, hamper your potential to become successful in life. You can achieve anything in life, all you need are strong optimistic beliefs.
