So you’ve heard the hype and read all your favorite blogs talking about how you can use affirmations to change who you are.

You’ve even seen people on Instagram and Snapchat post videos of them reciting their favorite affirmations.

So what is an affirmation anyway, and can they really change your appearance? While some people say affirmations are a ridiculous trend and not worth your time, there is a lot of evidence that shows just how effective self-affirmation can be.

However, though they can do wonders for a lot of things, some think that it can change ones appearance too.

So let’s find out the truth behind affirmations and can they change your appearance or are they just a hyped bubble.

What Are affirmations?

An affirmation is simply a sentence that you say to yourself to remind yourself of something positive. They can be general, such as “I have the power to make my dreams come true” or they can be more specific, such as “I am confident.”

The second thing you should know is that affirmations are a form of self-hypnosis, which means that you are putting yourself in a trance state.

Every time you read an affirmation, it will take about five seconds for your brain to absorb what you just said and shift into this altered state.

Are Affirmations Effective?

There are many different types of affirmations, with some being more effective than others. For example, if you want to work on your self-image, you should use positive affirmations and not negative ones. There are a lot of studies that found that self-affirmations practiced daily has proven to be effective in increasing confidence and boosted the problem-solving abilities.

For example: I love myself, I am a healthy and happy person, My life is amazing. On the other hand try to avoid these affirmations could include: I am not good enough, I don’t deserve better, No one will ever love me.

Whatever you ask the universe for it provides. So no matter what happens, no matter how bad your day is going never think negative of yourself, because at a long run these thoughts will become a reality.

Can affirmations change your appearance?

No, affirmations cannot change your appearance. Even though affirmations can make you positive, help you practice gratitude or make you confident but it cannot change how you look.

Well, if you want to start using affirmations to change who you are, then it’s important to keep in mind that there is a lot more going on than just the affirmation itself.

You have to make sure you have a positive self-image in order for the words or phrases you say or think to become true.

Some people may not be able to change what they look like because of their genetics or personality type, but it’s certainly worth exploring the possibilities with affirmations on other aspects like attaining financial freedom, or success.

Why you need to be consistent with self-affirmations?

One of the most important functions of affirmations is that they need to be repeated regularly to work. If you want your affirmations to have an effect on how you look, you need to be consistent with them.

The more often you repeat them, the more likely they are to change your mindset and how you look and feel on the inside. However, if you’re not consistent with using self-affirmations, then it won’t have much of an effect in your life. But for that too, you have to be consistent and believe that they can work.

For example, if you struggle with confidence and don’t believe that affirmations can help you feel more confident, then it would be best not to use them.

  • External affirmation – focuses on changing outward behavior or circumstances so that others notice a change in how you look or act
