Last Updated on May 26, 2022
Just finished watching season 5 volume 1 of Money Heist and fell in love with the characters again. Though money heist is a series that has an enormous fan base and has entertained millions around the world. It is something which has also some major lessons which one can learn from it.
The characters have not only robbed the banks but our hearts too.
Every character in money heist teaches us important aspects of life. From love to death, money heist can make you fall in love with life and its uncertainties. Every episode, every season brings an important message to the table, and that’s what I am going to share with you in this article.
So tie up your seat belts and get ready to learn some important lessons from Tokyo and Professor in Money Heist.
Note: There are some spoilers from Money Heist season 5.
Lessons From Professor
1. The World is Governed By Balance
“In this world, everything is governed by balance. There’s what you stand to gain and what you stand to lose. And when you think you’ve got nothing to lose, you become overconfident.” – Professor
According to the professor, the world is governed by a simple balance, and that balance consists of what you lose and what you gain. You cannot lose everything or gain everything at the same time.
There are consequences and sacrifices which you must face for every action. But a person who has nothing to lose in life thinks that he is stronger.
But that delusion often leads to destruction. Professor taught me that you can always defeat an overconfident opponent.
2. Plan One Step Further And Keep You Mind Calm
There are many things in life that you cannot control but can surely predict. That’s what the professor did the whole time. He was not a God, but was prepared for every setback or unexpected situation that might come his way.
He saved Tokyo and helped her to escape from the police in season one, saved Rio by negotiating with Inspector Alicia Sierra, saved Lisboa in season 4 and whatnot.
How did he do it?
There are many reasons how he planned so perfectly, but one main reason is research. He researched every scenario that might can happen during the heist. That’s what helped him to remain calm and plan like a boss.
By keeping his mind calm, keeping aside his emotions and thinking like a machine. He always remained one step ahead. You can become like Professor too and for that, you just need two things, proper planning, and presence of mind.
People always put themselves into chaos with their tendency to become impatient, overconfident, and confusion. But that’s not what professors teach us in Money Heist.
Control your mind because it is the most destructive weapon in the world. It can win every battle if used calmly.
Remember, with confusion and impatience comes fear, with fear your mind stops working. When the mind stops working you feel hopeless and as Tokyo said;
Hope is like dominos. Once one falls the rest follow. – Tokyo
3. Believe In Your Goals Like Professor
Professor believed in himself and his plans from the beginning. He knew he will make the government of Spain lose. He knew the heists will go successful no matter what happened.
In life, you must doubt, but you must not doubt extensively. Some doubt can help you in being alert but when you doubt yourself very much, you become a loser in your mind.
You lose confidence.
Professor always believed that there can be another doorway whenever one closed. He believed in himself, which gave his team members the confidence they needed to carry a successful heist in the Royal Mint Of Spain. Well, in the 5th season I can’t say if the heist will be successful or not.
Remember, you can only believe in yourself when you know your strengths well.

Lessons From Tokyo
1. Be Fearless Like Tokyo
A hotheaded character who works mostly by instinct, Tokyo, is the most fearless character in Money Heist.
From season 1 to season 5 volume 1, Tokyo never hesitated to risk her life for her associates. Though she was often found to be immature, she did everything to save everyone. In life, you must be fearless, like Tokyo. Though there are so many characters still Tokyo is the one who is the most favourite of all.
Do you know why?
Because she cares for her friends, she loves passionately. She did a successful surgery in Nairobi when she was shot. She bombed herself in season 5 in order to save everyone. I mean, who does that? Which character has that kind of strength?
“The more you are motivated by love, the more fearless and free your action will be.” – Dalai Lama
2. Love Gives You Strength
Someone has correctly quoted that love gives us the strength to perform impossible tasks.
This is what Tokyo teaches us in Money Heist. She loved her ex-boyfriend René and enjoyed her life with him.
But because of her one decision, he got killed in a bank robbery. Seeing him dead, she fearlessly fought the guards, the police, and everyone.
Though she learned that love and heist cannot be mixed, still she fell for Rio. Love always gave her strength. From loving her friend Nairobi to her boyfriends, she always prioritized love.
For her, love was the good reason for everything to fall apart. In life, love gives us strength like Tokyo.
I love my mom and dad, and for them, I can do anything. You might risk your life too for your loved ones. But have you ever questioned it? Have you ever thought about why love makes us so powerful yet vulnerable?
The reason is love is selfless. We don’t care about ourselves, but our loved ones. For them, we can do tasks which we can’t do without love. For instance, look at your own life. Why you are alive? Just because of your loved ones? Isn’t it?
We are broken pieces, we all are incomplete in life. But love completes us. Love gives us the reason to live.
3. We Live Many Lives
Have you ever noticed how much you have changed since you were born? When I was a kid I was a naughty kid.
In my teenage, I was a really hotheaded kid who had anger issues. But when I see myself now, I can’t believe I am the same person I used to be. The person I am in college differs from the one I was in school.
What I mean is we all live a life with many lives intact. In Money Heist season 5 volume 1, it was shown that how Tokyo loved René but after his death, she fell for Rio during the heist.
This showed that there can be many lives and many partners in a single lifetime. Your heart will be broken, you will be left, but one day you will find someone else. Someone more beautiful and loving.
We leave many parts of ourselves as we grow. I left my anger, my ego and even my first love behind. I felt empty, angry and whatnot. But in the end, we move one. We live like we are born again. This is what Tokyo taught me in Money Heist.
“A lot of people believe we only find one true love in our lives. But what they don’t realize is you can have several lives.” – Tokyo
If you are finding yourself, you have lost your battles in life. People left you or you lost your loved one. Remember, that was the first day of your next life and you’ve gotta live a lot of lives.
Final Thoughts
In life, we make a lot of mistakes and find ourselves in shitty situations. But the one thing which Money Heist’s characters like Tokyo and Professor taught me are love, calmness, planning and belief.
Love gives us strength, planning helps us win, research strengthens our planning, calmness avoids shitty decisions and teamwork is crucial. We can’t win battles alone and we need people to be with us and cherish us.
At last, if you haven’t watched the series yet, I recommend you watch it. Money heist is not a true story but it will teach you some crucial lessons we need in order to live our unpredictable lives.
