Positive Mindset: 4 Simple Ways To Develop Positive Mindset
Last Updated on June 20, 2022
Often in our lives, we face a situation where we cannot find ways to tackle it. We think negatively and find no solution to defeat those problems.
But do you know that people with a positive mindset tackle those difficult problems easily?
However, I am not talking about the ordinary meaning of positivity, i.e., to remain cheerful and smiling all the time; a positive mindset is about your perspective about life.
In this article, we will know the actual meaning of a positive mindset and how one can develop it in order to grow in life.
What is a Positive Mindset?
A positive mindset means to always focus on the bright side of life, see the best in other people, and believe that happiness is within. People with a positive mindset don’t get bothered by the results as they accept defeat the same way they accept success.
Having a positive mindset is all about focusing on the better side in any negative situation. Many people possess an optimistic mindset by nature, but this does not mean you cannot develop it.
Here are some definitions to make you understand the meaning of a positive mindset.
Positive thinkers have faith in the way the world works, and also have faith that everything in life happens for a reason.
Erin Kirkegaard-Weston
Why Having a Positive Mindset is Important?
“One-third of all Americans wake up depressed every day,” states Father John Powell in Happiness Is an Inside Job.
These statistics are quite depressing because this does not mean that only Americans are facing anxiety.
According to a Survey, “As per the results of a large scale survey conducted across India in 2019, young adults between the age of 20 and 29 years of both genders were the most depressed in the country.”
Doesn’t these statistics feel horrible?
This is why having a positive mindset is important as individuals’ happiness, and peace depends upon their thinking.
The greatest discovery of my generation is that human beings can alter their lives by altering their attitudes of mind.
William James
According to Erin Kirkegaard-Weston, every person has only three options:
- One can choose to be positive.
- One can choose to be negative.
- One can choose not to chose and allow the external environment to determine how one internally feels and externally acts.
So if the positive mindset is so important, how can one develop it? Let’s find out.
Benefits Of Developing Positive Mindset
- Better stress management
- Boost of motivation
- Improves immunity
- Better mood
- Increased life span
- Lower rates of depression

- Clearer thinking
Ways To Develop Positive Mindset
#1. Gratitude
McCullough, Emmons, and Tsang did 4 studies in 2002 on gratitude and found that “grateful individuals experience more positive emotions, are more satisfied with life, and experience fewer negative emotions including depression, anxiety, and envy. Perhaps not surprisingly, more grateful people also tend to be more pro-socially oriented. They are more likely to be empathic, forgiving, helpful, and supportive than those who are less grateful. They are less focused on attaining materialistic goals.”
A person who loves every moment tends to love and enjoy life more than people who always want more.
A positive mindset is all about enjoying life because it is about looking at the bright side of life. Gratitude unshackles negative emotions, and also, various researches prove that gratitude can cure depression and anxiety.
#2. One good friend is better than ten bad friends
You can only practice a positive mindset when you have friends who are positive too. You don’t need many friends in your life, because only some good friends will help you in your life forever.
Good friends help to shape you in the course of life. If you stay with people who see faults in life, always stay unhappy, always complain, you cannot develop a positive mindset.
#3. Embrace criticism
Many of us hate criticism, which hinders our growth in life most of the time.
When you embrace criticism in your life, you open doors of growth and opportunities. But how is it related to a positive mindset?
Well, a positive mindset is about being fine, no matter if someone motivates you or not. You have to move on in life, and that’s why embracing criticism can help.
#4. You become what you consume
It is a fact that you become what you consume. When you consume sh*t, you act like sh*t.
If you are a person who consumes political videos, double meaning, and offensive memes, videos, porn, you become depressed and ungrateful in life.
Just consume something good, and naturally, you will develop a proper mindset in life.
Conclusion
So, to develop a positive mindset in life, don’t forget to see the bigger picture in life, see good, be good, and consume good.
