Most often we feel that we have everything but still, we are not happy enough or sometimes not even happy. There is always a day where you don’t feel like it’s your day, you don’t feel good, you know that you have everything but still, there is some sort of void.

But do you know that most of the times you are the only one who causes yourself distress, misery and unhappiness? I know that you are here just to know why am I not happy? what is the reason behind my unhappiness?

Well just have patience because I am going to share with you 10 things that you must stop if you want to be happy.

There is always a reason behind our moods, sometimes we feel happy and sometimes we don’t. There are times that we realise that we have everything but still we are not happy enough.

Studies reveal that there are always some patterns and habits in our life that lead us to become unhappy and disturbed. We don’t know what we are doing wrong but there is often something like, same routine, bad patterns, habits which result in misery.

I am going to give you the familiar patterns or mistake which you keep doing unconsciously because of which you can never become happy in your life.

Unhappiness means that there is a necessity to change something in yourself, this means that somethings shouldn’t be as they are.

Don’t worry because here are 10 things which you must stop to become happy in your life. You can never be happy if you’ll do any of these things.

1. Using Excessive Social Media

I was reading an article on about social media and mental health and it said, as I quote;

Ironically for a technology that’s designed to bring people closer together, spending too much time engaging with social media can make you feel more lonely and isolated—and exacerbate mental health problems such as anxiety and depression.

When we spend more time on social media we incline to question our lives and compare our lives with all the influencers on Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook, etc.

We tend to copy them and believe that their lives are nicer, they are happier which makes us feel vulnerable.

Try to use social media in a balanced way, and avoid it as much as you can. Do not feel inferior about your beauty, how you look, the colour of your skin and everything. Which is shown ‘PERFECT‘ to you on social media is most of the times ‘PERFECT EDITING‘.

2. Stop Overthinking Shit

Overthinking is the strongest cause of your unhappiness. When you think so much because of some small blunders of other’s or about past you just go deep into the mine of misery. 

You just visualize things which are not even real because they are just thoughts which you gave rise to in your head. Thinking shit creates a misconception of things which may happen in future and you ruin all your mood for it.

So what you can do?

Concentrate, meditate more often because it will help, try to practice focus and to live in the moment. This does not mean stop thinking, this means that be aware of what you think and watch it without judging or engaging with it.

3. Being in Toxic Relationships Snatch Away Your Happiness

If the relationship you are in makes you question everything good you felt about yourself then it’s not a good relationship. Being in toxicity and thinking that everything will be OKAY after a few years is not always true. 

If your partner never accepts his/her mistakes, always blames you, never supports you, always lie, do not respect you and your career, does not love you enough or does not gives you time then you can say that you are in a toxic relationship.

If you hear endless complains and you are always judged then it’s time to think about the relationship you are in because it will ruin the happiness in your life.

Being in such a relationship, because you fear being alone, is the worst mistake you can ever make. This one mistake will make you unhappy in the long run.

4. You Can Never Be Happy if You Have Many Expectations

Expectations are the root cause of all unhappiness and disappointment.  If you always have high expectations about your partner, your job, money and all different things in life then you are on the path of sorrow and unfulfillment.

You forget that in life not every expectation gets fulfilled, and then you blame your life and destiny.

You start finding faults in life which kills its essence. It is only true in dreams that everything gets fulfilled and life is always fair but sees deeply and you will find that that’s not life. Life is not always fair and you have to accept it.

5. You Can’t Stay Happy Alone

When you search for a partner or a loved one just because you cannot live alone means that you are not ready to be in a relationship. 

If you are not happy alone, if you cannot find your inner self within how can you make someone else happy with yourself.  How can you expect that you will be happy with someone else even when you are not aware of your self?

Until you learn how to live alone you cannot find someone or love someone because you don’t know if you are choosing someone out of love or loneliness.

When you choose someone of out loneliness that relationship is bound to see the end, because it was out of loneliness and this leads again to unhappiness.

Just learn to live happily alone.

6. Being a Grumbler

Someone who always complains about each and everything cannot remain satisfied in life at all.  How he can be happy when he is just filled with complains, and negativity? Do you think he can love someone?  How he can love someone because at the end he/she will find only the negative in that person to blame him/her.

Do you think he can live a wonderful life?

How he can live a wonderful life when he is not happy being alive.

If you are a complainer then you must understand that it is not only you who face the difficulties, the unfair life, the karma(if you believe in it), the sadness, death, etc. There are many and many more who face the worst things in life and remain happy.

You cannot change what happens on the outside, but you can change your mindset.

7. Being Ungrateful for The Things You Have

If you are unhappy with the things you have in this present moment you cannot remain happy with anything in life.  If you are thinking that why am I not happy enough with what I have then this the reason. Just think about it.

If you get that bigger house which you dream of, what you say to yourself, ‘I will be happy when I’ll get it’ and then when you get it do you become happy? Yes, you become but for a shorter period.

After a year or two, your happiness gets depend upon other objects of your desire.  This has no end, my friend, this will have no end in future too. So how can you change it?  It is really simple, just start being grateful for each and everything you have now.

When you wake up in the morning start giving thanks to God that you are alive, your loved ones are alive and be kind.  It will help, trust me.

8. Eating Junk and Never Working out

When you eat junk food and take lots of salt and sugar in your body you ruin the balance of the nutrients in your body which affects your overall mood and increases the percentage of unhealthy fat in your body. Nobody likes to see themselves in a bad shape which affects not only your happiness but also your confidence.

Big food companies attract you through their advertisements of tasty food but they do not tell you about the ingredients which they add into it.

9. You Are Just Stuck (NOT TRYING NEW THINGS)

So think about it, don’t you think you just follow that old same boring routine every day?

Whenever you feel unhappiness or sadness while you have everything think about your routine. When you follow the same routine and do the same thing every day you will get bored and you will feel depressed

Try something new, go out for a walk, go for a road trip or on a vacation just take out a few hours for yourself and spend time doing some epic shit.

10. Chasing Happiness

At last, the most important thing YOU ARE CHASING HAPPINESS which is the path to unhappiness and that is the reason why you are unhappy.

Now you will ask me that how chasing happiness is a bad idea? The answer to this is very simple.

When you chase happiness you start ignoring all the pretty and better things you have now because you think your happiness is far from you, in that house which you can’t afford, in that dream car, dream partner but that is a myth.

Your happiness is within you and it’s always there. The moment you stop waiting for happiness you find happiness and if you keep doing this mistake you will remain unhappy.

The happiest people are not those who have the best of everything, they just make the best of everything they already have. If you are a person who does these things then you should think about it before you become more miserable.

You can never be happy if you overthink more, remain in toxic relationships or environment, always eat junk and complain about every little thing in life. Being happy means being in the present, having a sense of gratitude and self-love.

If you will keep repeating the mistakes which you are doing now you will find yourself in the state of unhappiness for a long time. You must stop doing these 10 things to be happy in your life and to throw away the sadness.
